Welcome to Fire Flutes

Native cultures world wide have made flutes for thousands of years, and I am honored to have learned from some of the best makers around today. I have been fortunate enough to have been instructed by Thaweno':ken, a member of the Iroquoian Nation, and creator of the Orenda Healing Flutes on the traditions associated with making the Native American Style Flute.
"Traditionally called a "Courting" or Love Flute, the instrument was crafted by a specialized artisan or warrior and used for signaling troops during battles, and in peace, for the purpose of wooing his chosen one as well as for spiritual and physical healing. Cherished and treated with utmost care and respect, it was primarily a private musical instrument, the voice of which is as a prayer to the Creator." - Thaweno':ken
I have lived in Florida for over 20 years but am originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I had always had an ear for music and found the flute to be the instrument to which I was drawn. I have been making flutes for years now. Most of my flutes were made of bamboo until I happened upon the instructions and teachings to learn how to make the Native American Flute. I myself am not Native American therefore I will only sell my flutes as Native American Style as that is where I have drawn my inspiration. All credit due for the Native American flute goes to the Original People of this great Nation.
More recently I have ventured into making transverse (side-blown) flutes of various tunings. My exotic scales have a very Middle Eastern and Oriental sound to them, probably due also to my fascination with ancient Egypt and the Chinese culture. In the works I have Minor scales as well as Major scale flutes...my favorite being the Irish Low D. More to come on those in the future...for now, Please feel free to explore my site.
Many Thanks,
Craig
