fireflutes
Welcome to FireFlutes
Native cultures world wide have made flutes for thousands of years, and I am honored to have learned from some of the best makers around today. I have been fortunate enough to have been instructed by Thaweno’:ken, a member of the Iroquoian Nation, and creator of the Orenda Healing Flutes on the traditions associated with making the Native American Style Flute.
Traditionally called a “Courting” or Love Flute, the instrument was crafted by a specialized artisan or warrior and used for signaling troops during battles, and in peace, for the purpose of wooing his chosen one as well as for spiritual and physical healing. Cherished and treated with utmost care and respect, it was primarily a private musical instrument, the voice of which is as a prayer to the Creator. – Thaweno’:ken
Over the years I have found myself pulled back to the material I originally started making flutes with, bamboo. My favorite of all the materials, bamboo lends itself nicely to my abilities and I have spent many years mastering the techniques needed to create a truly functional piece of art. On this site you will find my offerings in not only wood, but also bamboo. Transverse exotic scales, minor and major scales and the ever popular Native style flutes can all be found here.
Many Thanks,
Craig

Testimonials
Michael
I can feel the loving care that went into this flute. All the details from start to finish are a work of true artistic craftsmanship. I didn't get to claim this one, however, my wife did. It's a good thing that it's near her birthday, she absolutely adores it. She is a beginning player but this seems to call to her. She states that it's the easiest to get air through and to cover the air holes. She also loves the tone of the instrument. I couldn't be happier and thanks for the extremely fair price.

Outstanding Flute! The tone is perfect and does not have a raspy sound. I have collected and played many flutes from various flute makers. This Bamboo Flute is responsive and has a very nice low haunting sound. Craig is a true professional flute maker who knows how to take care of a customer. I am extremely happy with the purchase of this flute! Last, I highly recommend adding a Bamboo Flute made by FireFlutes to your flute collection.

My second bamboo flute from Craig. His flutes are well tuned and of high quality workmanship. Very little breath required which makes for good control and responsiveness between notes. Thanks Craig!
